Policy Statement

Confidentiality:

I understand that my information will be kept private in accordance with state and federal laws and HIPAA regulations. I have the option of signing a release that allows the massage therapist to discuss my treatment – but only with other medical professionals, and only when necessary.

Client Empowerment and Consent:

Before every massage, I will have the opportunity to review and consent to my draping options. I will undress to the level of my comfort in the privacy of the massage room and will be securely covered by a sheet during the massage session. Only the area being worked on will be exposed, and genitals will always remain covered. I may also request that work be done through draping or clothing if I choose. I will be empowered to let the therapist know if I am uncomfortable for any reason during the massage session.

Per WA state requirements (section g), I understand that I will be asked to review, update, and sign a written consent form once a year. This consent may be adjusted or revoked at any time.

Cancellations and Missed Appointments:

If I am unable to make my appointment, I will provide as much notice as possible. If I miss my appointment without any attempt to contact before our scheduled time, I will be charged the full amount of the missed appointment.

Late Arrivals:

I understand that late arrivals will be taken on a case-by-case basis. If I am running late, I will attempt to contact the massage therapist by text or phone as soon as possible to discuss my options. Appointments may be rescheduled as availability permits. If I arrive late (10 minutes or more), I will be allowed to use the remainder of the scheduled appointment time, although I will be charged for the full amount of time scheduled.

Fees & Tips:

I am aware that pricing will be changing May 1st, 2022, and can review the new pricing here.

I understand that fees are due at the time of service. Rates for services are subject to change, and will be posted and communicated clearly prior to the beginning of each session. I understand that there is a sliding scale for sessions, and I will pay the full amount I can best afford at the time of my session. I understand that this sliding scale allows the business to expand their services to those who may not otherwise have access to it.

  • First time client (90-minute session): $80

  • 60 minutes: $90

  • 90 minutes: $120

  • 2 hours: $150

I agree to pay with cash or using Venmo, Paypal, or the Cash app. Tips are not required or expected, but will be accepted with gratitude.

Insurance Reimbursement:

I understand the business does not accept insurance at this time, but can provide me with an itemized receipt upon request so that I may submit the session myself.

Hours of Operations:

By appointment only

Scheduling:

Scheduling will be done in person via email, text, or phone. I understand that if I do not confirm my appointment the time may not remain available.

Right of Refusal:

I understand that the business reserves the right to refuse services for reasons of safety or impropriety, or in the event that a client’s needs exceed the scope of practice for massage therapy as defined by WA state law.

I understand that sensual massage is NOT offered, and that inappropriate behavior will result in immediate termination of the session, with full payment due. Inappropriate behavior includes but is not limited to: genital self-stimulation during the massage, verbal sexual harassment or innuendo, exposing your body by intentionally removing the drape, etc.

frequently asked questions

It’s my first visit! What should I expect?

Some paperwork, a conversation about your goals for the session, opportunity to ask questions, good squishes, maybe a weird sound effect or bad pun during the massage, and “massage brain.”

Check out this blog post here for a longer breakdown of what to expect and how to prepare for your first massage with Whitney

what’s included in the session time?

A session consists of a short check in when you arrive (the intake), time for you to dress and undress, the massage, and a short check out post-massage. The therapist will do their best to ensure you get as much time on the table as possible, but please note that intakes are an important part of each session.

do i need to get fully undressed?

You should undress to the level you are comfortable with. Your massage therapist will step out of the room to give you privacy to undress and get comfortable on the table, underneath the sheet.

Massage can be modified to work with skin contact or over clothes - it is always up to the client on what they feel comfortable with. That being said, many people will fully undress, as it allows for full skin-to-skin contact in any area that may be worked on. An electric blanket or extra layers can be provided per request as well.

what do i do during the massage?

Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It’s totally up to you, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. In many instances, people may feel more relaxed starting off talking, and as the massage progresses, enter quiet states of relaxation.

It’s always okay to speak up if something is not working for you at any point during our session. If you feel cold, there are extra fuzzy blankets. If the pressure needs to be changed or anything is making you uncomfortable, let me know immediately.

are there times i should wait on getting a massage?

There are a few conditions which would prevent you from enjoying massage. You should not book a massage if you have a fever, contagious illness (i.e. cold/flu, Covid) or contagious skin infection.

There are many other conditions in which your therapist may need to adapt the techniques used (i.e., arthritis or osteoporosis) or avoid an area completely (i.e., fresh cut or burn). With some conditions, it is a good idea to get approval from your physician before you receive massage (cancer, certain heart conditions, pregnancy). This does not mean you cannot get a massage, but it’s always better to be cautious. If you have a concern and you’re not sure if you should get a massage, please feel free to reach out and ask!
